The Buena Mulata is a very rare Capsicum annuum and it also proves the wealth of varieties within this species. The Buena Mulata produces beautifully colored chili peppers with a length of approximately 15 cm. During the ripening process, those chili peppers change color from dark violet, via pink-red to orange and finally to end up as red. The trunk and the calyx are also purple in the beginning. The whole plant grows to about 60 centimeters high. Because it is very decorative, it is also very suitable to grow it in a pot in your living room.
The spiciness of the Buena Mulata ranges from 30,000 to 50,000 on the Scoville Scale and is therefore comparable to that of the Cayenne Red. That is of course quite logical, because the Buena Mulata is actually a very dark variant of the Cayenne.
